Felixstowe Opportunity Group
Felixstowe Opportunity Group was founded in the early 1990s by a group of local mums who wanted a safe, welcoming space for their children with special needs. Over the decades, the group has evolved as the needs of families and the community have changed.
In 2022, following the challenges of the pandemic, a new team stepped in to continue this vital work, ensuring that Felixstowe Opportunity Group (FOG) remained at the heart of the community. Today, we are proud to run a wide range of inclusive, supportive projects that reach children, families, and individuals of all ages.

Little Foggies Playgroup
FOG runs two inclusive playgroups every week, where children of all abilities can play, learn, and grow together. Using a Montessori-inspired approach, our activities encourage children to learn through play, build confidence, and develop social skills. We strongly believe that children who play alongside peers of different abilities from an early age grow up to be more compassionate, understanding, and inclusive members of society.

Our Roses community gardening group uses gardening as a tool for wellbeing. Whether through planting, tending to the garden, or simply enjoying a cup of tea in a safe outdoor space, Roses helps people reconnect when they feel isolated due to bereavement, unemployment, mental health challenges, or other difficult life circumstances. Felixstowe Opportunity Group is more than just a playgroup or community hub – it is a lifeline for families, children, and individuals who might otherwise feel left behind.

Tulips Bereavement Support Group
For those coping with the loss of a loved one, our Tulips bereavement group offers a safe, supportive space. Working alongside a trained counsellor, we combine art therapy and group discussion to help people process grief, find comfort, and take steps forward in their daily lives. Even though there are lots of options and online help its nice to be able to sit next to a person and share how we are feeling with a cuppa and a biscuit!
